SingleParentMeet Review

4/5

SingleParentMeet is ”a premier online dating site for single parents.” Individuals can join for friendship or romance, and the site is open to heterosexual and same-sex relationships. This is a niche dating site and can be a great place for widows/widowers and divorcees, particularly those who also have children. The site has been going strong since 2000 and boasts success stories from all over the U.S. and Canada.

It can be challenging and frustrating for single parents to meet a new romantic interest via conventional dating sites. For example, there is a lingering stigma of divorcees and single parents. There’s also the matter of people not wanting to get involved with someone who already has children. SingleParentMeet aims to bridge that gap and bring more like-minded singles together so they can start a new chapter of their lives.

Some of the users on SingleParentMeet still have young kids, while others have adult children who are now out of the house. There is a nice representation of ages here, with the largest group being 35-44-year-olds, at 30%. The smallest group is ages 55+, which makes up just 10% of the clientele.

About 55% of the client base is female, so there are more women on the site than men. It’s unclear how many total users there are, but in an average week, there about 50,000 active members. SingleParentMeet is only available in the United States and Canada.

Creating A Profile

To sign up for SingleParentMeet.com, just go to the homepage and use the drop-down menu to select your gender and who you’re looking for (men, women). Click “search now” to get redirected to the sign-up page.

Here, you can select your country, enter your zip code, and choose a username for your profile. You’ll also need to enter a secure password. From there, enter your birth date, email address, and how you heard about SingleParentMeet.

Next, the site will prompt you to upload a profile photo, reminding you that this makes you 10 times more successful in finding a good match. If you’d rather skip this step, for now, that’s fine, but your profile will remain invisible until you upload a photo. After that, you can write a brief bio about yourself, such as how long you’ve been single; if you have kids; and what kinds of hobbies you enjoy. If you get stuck here, don’t worry. There are example templates that you can get inspiration from.

From there, you can purchase a subscription plan or continue trying out the site for free. The page will automatically redirect to your homepage search, where you can start browsing profiles and interacting with others.

Using the Site

SingleParentMeet is quite easy to use. It can look overwhelming at first, but you can take it slow and explore what’s going on.

One of the first pages you’ll come across is your daily matches. That in itself offers lots of room to play around and see who’s currently on the site. You can also click the “Home” tab and play “Who Do You Like?” This is similar to a Hot or Not game in which you get two profiles and you can pass on them both or choose one that you’re interested in.

Besides browsing profiles, you can read through dating articles for current trends, news, and advice. To view these, go to the “Home” page and scroll down to the bottom.

Finding A Match

Everyone will receive daily matches for free. You’ll have better luck finding ideal matches if you take some time to complete your profile. This can be a lot of fun because you can answer personality questions and express yourself through your top interests and photos. Once you’re ready to meet some people, click the “Matches” tab on the taskbar. This will show you potential partners, and you can decide if they’re a possible match or not. Click “No” to see your next match, or click “Yes” to say hello to that person. Keep in mind that you’ll have to be a paid member to send messages.

Another option is clicking the “Search” tab on the taskbar. This allows you to specify which age range, geographic location, and marital status you’re looking for. You can customize your search by ethnicity, height, smoking habits, religion, and more. As you visit different profiles, you’ll be able to look at their photos, interests, and other details. As a free member, you can send a flirt and add people to your Favorites list, but that’s about it.

There are lots more special features for those who opt for a membership. One of them is ConnectMe, which generates a unique phone number for you and your matches, so you can communicate one-on-one anonymously before deciding to meet up in person. The phone numbers remain hidden to everyone, including the individual you’re talking to.

Besides premium membership, there are also virtual tokens that allow you to purchase upgraded features such as Promote Me and virtual gifts. Tokens come in packs of 50, 110, and 280. To get tokens, click the “Tokens” tab on the taskbar. From there, you can click the “Manage Tokens” link to buy a pack. Promote Me places your profile at the top of your matches’ search results for one hour. Virtual gifts include things like teddy bears, flowers, video game controllers, and jewelry.

Accessibility

At first glance, the user interface seems a bit messy and cluttered. This is mostly because there are banner ads on the site. Once you can get past that, you’ll notice a layout to the interface. To the right is your profile, where you can modify your settings. Below is a list of users who are currently online and available to chat. To the left is your inbox and connections (things like your Favorites list, views, and photo likes).

The taskbar at the top of the screen shows icons for Home, Inbox, Search, Matches, Tokens, and Settings. Whenever you have a new message or potential match, a red notification will appear over the relevant icon.

Something that you might find confusing is that there are several links to other sites scattered throughout SingleParentMeet. For example, we found links to Match.com and Care.com, but it’s unclear if these companies are affiliated or related to SingleParentMeet.com.

Also, SingleParentMeet has a mobile app for iPhone and Android. Individuals can use the app to send messages, receive flirts, view profiles, check their status activity, and more. Unfortunately, the app has just 1.9 stars on both the Google Play Store and App Store. Most of the user complaints are about the lack of free features and that the app is too glitchy.

SingleParentMeet is a legit site, complete with Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
